The Value of Inclusion

It fills me with so much pride to share that today we announced “Inclusion” as our sixth Walgreens Boots Alliance company value.

At WBA, what brings us together are our values. While inclusion has been a guiding force for our company for over a century, it is an incredible statement to formally recognize it as a company value.

Living our Inclusion value means we are empowered to bring our authentic selves in an open, welcoming and equitable workplace.

While we work together to fight division, injustice and strife in the world, decisions like this – to embrace and lift up the act of inclusion – matter. For our global communities to grow and develop, inclusion is a necessary act, especially our workplace communities.

Formalizing Inclusion as a WBA value adds to our great momentum in 2020. This year, we’ve also committed to increasing the number of women and people of color in leadership positions, created training programs for people with disabilities and recognizing unconscious bias, added a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion metric to our company bonus criteria, witnessed the appointment of Valerie Jarrett to the WBA Board of Directors and shared in the incredible work of our Business Resource Groups.

It’s an honor to be the Global Chief Diversity Officer for Walgreens Boots Alliance everyday, and especially today. As we move forward, I am committed to doing my part to live our Inclusion value and demonstrate the behaviors that support it.

All together, we are different – and all together, #WeAreWBA.

#AllTogetherDifferentWBA #Diversity #Inclusion

Well said, Carlos! You are building a workplace culture in which ALL colleagues feel encouraged and safe to contribute their best selves #inclusionmatters, #diversitymatters #alltogetherbetter

Congratulations Carlos. I think you and WBA are setting the standard for organizations everywhere to put D&I into action. I'd love to hear more about the program you and the team have created.
