Value every Relationship You have! Never Take Anyone for Granted!
As we pass through this journey called life, we will meet many people, some good, some bad, and some will even try your patience. My goal in life is to win at every relationship. I understand that it is virtually impossible to achieve that, but I would love to win at more relationships than the one’s I fail at. Our key instruction from our Master tells us to ‘love one another.’ In other words, relate to one another and be there for each other. This kind of behavior will attract attention and when people are attracted to you, show them the reason for your behavior and attitude – Jesus! When love is truly personified, very, very few people can resist it. Love is the one quality that touches deep within a person and releases something special. That is what we are supposed to do!
Our Scripture Text for this Morning is: John 13:34-35 “A new commandment I give unto you, ‘That ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.’ By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
What many of us fail to realize that love when correctly expressed can touch the deepest part of a person, can heal past differences, can resolve problems, can reconcile, can express joy even in the face of disaster. Love conquers all! It is an emotion that can radically change a person. Gangsters have been known to transform their lives simply because they loved someone who hated gangs and that sort of life. If natural love can accomplish so much, can you for a moment think about what God’s Love [Agape Love] can do when it is ignited within the heart of a person? It draws men to one’s self – it re-establishes friendships, and it even brings enemies together. This wonderful love can touch even the hardest heart that continues to beat.
The great thing about life is that we all can experience love both natural and divine. But sadly, because of the frustrations of life we tend to put love in the back-seat of our lives, as it were, and we take for granted those that have been placed around us in life. Those that do the most for us, get the least of our attention and love. There are people all around us today crying out for help, love and compassion and all we can do is tell ourselves that I will pray for them. The Bible teaches us that ‘faith without works is dead.’ This means that all the prayer in the world will be of no effect if people don’t reach out and help those in need. While it is good to pray, our attitude should not only be engaged in prayer but also in putting our prayers into action.
Imagine what a privilege we have in the fact that we have the breath of life which enables us to think, enjoy, breath, and to be with those that we love and care about. Sometimes we experience sadness and sorrow along the path of life, but with this we also experience so much of beauty and natural marvels that keep us fascinated along the way. We must keep walking even when we experience pain, tragedy and disasters, for we never know what lies ahead of us on this journey. Remember that you are who you are because of many people that have walked by your side, assisted you from time to time and have even sacrificed much for your survival. Many have gone through much so that you can walk free today. Stop and take a moment to always value every relationship you have – don’t take anyone for granted!
