Hello everybody,

we are one month away from the middle of the year, and you are reading the 6th edition of my Cybersecurity, IT & Business newsletter! During May, I’ve finished a project I wanted to complete for some time: my first e-book about partnerships.

Inspired by several concepts about strategy and based on my experience on the topic, I’ve developed a framework called Value-Based Partnerships Strategy that can be used to create successful partnerships that are able to generate value and delight for vendors, partners and customers.

In the rest of the newsletter, we will cover one of the most fundamentals changes to mobile phones architecture in the past decade, and what is the impact of “mean” leaders in driving successful projects.

A technology story that caught my attention

I like to avoid topics connected to AI as those are covered everywhere, multiple times. During the last month, the most interesting technology story that caught my attention was how the mobile industry is slowly moving away from physical SIM cards. The impact of this shift will have strong implications in how you purchase and activate a mobile service plan in terms of both user experience and security.

A glimpse into the Cybersecurity news, reports and thoughts you might have missed

Every month there are so many stories to pick when it comes to Cybersecurity! This time I’ve picked some different topics that I think will definitely help you to see what is going on and where the industry is going:

• In his article "Visibility without Action is just Noise”, Yaron Levi shares his view on a topic that I completely agree with, connected to how many vendors promote their solutions based on how they help CISOs to see what is going on but don’t seem to be doing such a great job when it comes to act on the reported issues.
• Whoever has not breached raise your hand… well, I doubt anyone can say for sure that they are not breached at this precise moment, as the article by Bill Toulas reports how military and government networks had external actors going around their networks for 6 years!
• The new Copilot+PCs from 微软 have been announced during May, and while there was a lot of positive coverage about them, their new Recall feature is concerning cybersecurity specialists and enthusiasts, as this article by VentureBeat illustrates.
• Another excellent research from Canalys projects what will be the cybersecurity spending in 2024 and how it will be distributed across the different categories within the sector.

The Business Corner

• Net Promoter Scores are a great tool, but Felix Eggers , Marco Vriens, Rogier Verhulst, Jason S. Talwar and Avinash Collis believe that you should consider another one: Customer Surplus Value. Explore this concept in this article at Harvard Business Review .
• In order to connect with customers, companies need to go beyond standard business practices, and find ways to establish purposeful relationships with them, according to Marc Kielburger LL.B., CM ’s latest article.
• Reverse Trials are proving to be a strong acquisition method, and Aakash Gupta shares interesting statistics about that in his latest post and article.
• Ian King and Debby Wu explore why making computer chips has become such an important endeavour in today’s world.

Leadership

Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez explores in this article if “mean" leaders are more successful in driving projects to successful conclusions. An interesting view on how traits that might be “unpleasant" for many can create positive outcomes, but also have other negative consequences:
