Born on February 28, 1938, in Juncos, Puerto Rico, Félix Modesto Conde Falcón's life was marked by extraordinary bravery and dedication to his country. His journey, which began with his enlistment in the United States Army in April 1963 in Chicago, Illinois, ultimately led to his heroic actions in the jungles of Vietnam.

Assigned to Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 505th Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Conde Falcón served with distinction, embodying the values of courage and selflessness. Tragically, his life was cut short on April 4, 1969, during combat operations in Ap Tan Hoa, South Vietnam.

Despite the ultimate sacrifice, Conde Falcón's legacy endured. Through the Defense Authorization Act's review of Jewish American and Hispanic American veterans, his valor was finally recognized. Posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama on March 18, 2014, Conde Falcón became the 6th and final member of the 82nd Airborne Division to receive this prestigious honor.

His citation paints a vivid picture of his bravery and leadership on the battlefield. From charging enemy bunkers to single-handedly assaulting fortified positions, Conde Falcón exemplified the highest ideals of military service.

Established by President Abraham Lincoln in 1861, the Medal of Honor stands as the highest recognition of valor in the United States Armed Forces. It commemorates individuals like Conde Falcón, who, through their actions, have upheld the nation's ideals and values.

Conde Falcón's story serves as a testament to the courage and sacrifice of all recipients of the Medal of Honor. Through every conflict in American history since the Civil War, these heroes have demonstrated unparalleled bravery and selflessness in defense of their country.

The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation is dedicated to preserving the legacies of these extraordinary individuals. By sharing their stories, we inspire future generations to honor their courage and uphold the values they represent.
