Trader Joe’s, one of the most beloved and coveted grocery stores in the country, has a new location set to open later this year in Chandler.

The new location, which does not have an opening date set yet, marks the 18th Trader Joe’s location in Arizona and the 13th in the Valley.

This week's print and digital edition cover story – highlighted by Jim Poulin's spectacular cover photo of the first Air France flight arriving at Sky Harbor – takes a look at how Phoenix's airport is breaking records, which is leading to optimism about landing more high-profile flights.

The Valley’s tourism season, which runs from January through April, ended up being the busiest ever at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, based on passenger counts.

While most of the country is gearing up for its busy summer tourism season, Phoenix just wrapped it up. Not only is January to April when the weather the mildest and most attractive to out-of-state visitors for golfing, hiking or sitting poolside, it also is when the Valley hosts several annual major events that bring in spectators and participants from all over the world.

“There was a time many years ago when Phoenix was viewed to be a low-yield market for airlines. The perception was people came to Arizona to vacation and go to the Grand Canyon. The good news is, people are still coming to Arizona to do that, but they're also coming because of the friendly business climate.”

Chad R. Makovsky, A.A.E , the aviation director for the City of Phoenix
