The issue needs to be resolved scientifically. Revisit the statements like "harm the scientific community’s efforts to propagate scientific thoughts and rationality..... petition had collected more than 3,000 signatures, etc. Is it desirable to allow such (weak) scientific mind to exist?
The scientific thinking or thought is one's mind's outcome, as perceived under several constraints like data available, tools for analysis, etc.
And what is the perfect? to me it is equivalent to Zero or infinity or "Poorna". In Vedanta philosophy there is shloka that specifies Perfect (Poorna) as :
- Poorna/Poorna= Poorna
- Poorna-Poorna=Poorna
- Poorna+Poorna=Poorna
- Poorna*Poorna=Poorna
Is it not in tune with the concept of infinity or say in terms of Boolean Algebra?
Hence, let us accept that no scientific theory is absolute, perfect, fool-proof because of obvious reasons, and subject to modifications as and when knowledge progressively enhances. Hence scientifically accepted theories like that of Freud, Maslow, Big Bang, Black Hole, theory of Electronics, etc., were subjected to criticism (that was digested scenically then) and then theories are suitably modified later., and will further be modified till they become perfect as if it is the nature's law, unbreakable. Is it not scientific?
Let us take the case of Dashavatara (Ten incarnations).l see this as a way to look at the Theory of the Man's Evolution as narrated in Vedanta philosophy:
Dashavatara
- Matsya, the fish.
- Kurma, the tortoise.
- Varaha, the boar.
- Narasimha, the Half Man-Half Lion avatar.
- Parashurama, Rama with the axe.
- Vamana, the Dwarf.
- Sri Ramachandra, the king of Ayodhya and the hero of the epic Ramayana.
- Sri Krishna, a hero of the epic Mahabharata.
Darwin's Theory can be fitted between Narasimha and Parashurama Avatar that can be considered as a way to look at theory of evolution of living organisms. Almost all faiths have their theories of evolution. Let us try to search out the common essence among all these.
The current knowledge says that human came out of Africa. A video of 8o seconds shows some mile stones of man's continental movement from 400 million years ago to 250 million in the future.
To digest the criticism and to come out with scientific conclusions is an acceptable scientific trend. Is it not so?

"Nobody has seen ape turning into man", is just an urgent statement. We also use such descriptors in day to day life. They way the minister argued might be wrong. But there is a need to rethink about the theory. In school I had studied that Giraffe's neck became long over generations because it got stretched due to trying to access the leaves from the tree for food. This was the example given for Darwin's theory. My most simple question is "was giraffe the only animal which tried to fetch leaves from the tree; there are thousands of animals why didn't such a stretching happen for other animals?". Humans also have tried to fetch fruits and leaves from trees. Humans should also have long hands. Why did not that happen. That apart, in the first instance, where did monkeys appear from? Let us have an open mind and discuss. It is an opportunity to rethink.

On a lighter vein and according to Christian Thesis
GOD materialized, out of His Thoughttrons (word formulated by Paramhansa Yoganandaji), Adam and Eve. They were the first human beings; and they did not evolve the way Darwin thought. Minister may be talking about Christian view of evolution of Human Beings. Darwin is juts incidental.
It would be interesting to have the views from other learned members.
