February is a month of appreciation; a month to remember and celebrate the ones we love. For us, this means taking an evening off and spending quality time together. And what better way to relax and indulge than to enjoy a delicious, creative meal out? Toronto has some amazing restaurants – too many to list! However here are some of our favourites.
La Banane: Acclaimed Toronto chef Brandon Olsen opened La Banane in 2016. With 1920s inspired walls, marble bar tables, velvet seating, grand chandeliers, and a mix of eclectic art, this Ossington Ave. bistro is truly one of a kind. The feel-good luxury of the interior makes La Banane the perfect setting for an evening of opulence. The menu features the fresh seafood, quality meats, rich sauces and delicate pastry typical of French cuisine. If you’re a chocolate-lover make sure to order the incredibly beautiful “Ziggy Stardust Disco Egg” for a surprising treat!
Kiin: If you’re looking for a fresh space with refined flavours and quality ingredients, look no further then Kiin. A recent project by Chef Nuit, Kiin takes Thai cuisine to a bright and creative new level. The menu boasts a delicious mix of seafood, coconut, peanut, spice, and citrus. From plant-dyed dumplings to homemade root vegetable chips, Kiin has options for meat-lovers and vegans alike. The dishes are colourful and playful making this a perfect place for a first, or hundredth, date.
Otto’s Bierhalle: A traditional German beer hall re-imagined. This Queen West spot turns simple staples like schnitzel, sauerkraut, and sausage into a gourmet feast. With a clean, vintage industrial interior and over one hundred craft beers to choose from, Otto’s Bierhalle has everything you need for a fun night. Its casual vibe extends to the food presentation. The menu is full of sharing plates served on oversized metal trays. If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, Otto’s has all the right ingredients.
Wherever you decide to spend your Valentine’s Day dinner, we hope it’s full of love and laughter.
