Mainstream society puts an enormous amount of pressure on men each Valentine’s Day to ensure we’re making our loved ones feel special. Yet, when it comes down to it, buying flowers, chocolates, and gifts isn’t what makes a relationship special. Spending time with each other, telling those close to you that you love them, is what truly shows someone that you care.
Men and women are very different animals. The things that men care about aren’t at all important to women. It makes it challenging at times as a man, to put yourself in her shoes, and to make your special someone feel special every single day.
So, if you find yourself scrambling each year to make Valentine’s Day memorable, here are a few ways to keep the passion alive throughout the year.
1. Check in on her, every day.
Women don’t want to be ignored all day until you get home from work. She wants to know that you’re thinking about her and the best way to do that is to USE YOUR WORDS! Men aren’t the best at communicating their feelings, but sharing with your special someone is the way to make her heart melt.
You don’t want to only pay attention to her when you get home from work or late at night. Because the fact of the matter is that she wants to hear from you! So, make sure you’re reaching out to her once per day, it doesn’t have to be fancy, as simple,
“Hey, I’m thinking about you.”
That is all she wants to hear.
2. Have “Date Nights.”
When courting someone to become your special someone, you take her on dates. And, when you get into a relationship, it’s even more important to keep the flame alive. There’s nothing a woman loves more than to dress up, be treated like a queen, and have your undivided attention.
Yes, you need to PAY ATTENTION to her, that means leaving your phone at home, putting your work aside, and making her the center of attention. Why do you think girls think about their wedding from a young age? It’s due to the fact that they want to be loved, admired, and feel valued. So, make sure that you’re checking all of the boxes as your relationship blossoms.
3. Cook Her Dinner.
Nothing says that you care more than cooking her dinner. Taking the time to go to the store, prepare a meal, and allow her to kick back gives her a chance to relax. It also shows that you’re willing to put in some sweat equity into a relationship because any Joe Schmo can take someone out for a fancy dinner. But, when it comes to preparing a home-cooked meal, that takes effort. And Relationships take an effort in order to continuously grow.
4. Take Her to the Nail Salon.
Even if you’re a “Man’s Man” going to the nail salon to get a manicure or pedicure is a fantastic way to spend time with your mate. It gives you the opportunity to sit her with, treat her like a princess, and you get to relax too!
After you go on date after date, it gets hard to keep coming up with fresh material to keep the fireworks shooting in the relationship. Not only are you getting to spend time with the person you care about the most, focusing on your extremities allows you to freshen up your appearance!
5. Tell Her that You “Love Her.”
Now, you may not be at this point yet in your relationship, but there will come a time where the words, “I Love You” will be exchanged. Once you get into this point of the relationship, it’s important that you make sure that you tell her this EVERY SINGLE DAY
This removes any self-doubt from her psyche, shows that you care, and keeps the river flowing downstream rather than upstream. Try leaving notes around your home, sending random text messages, or just hopping on facetime to let her know that you care. It’s the little things in life, that mean the most to her, and make sure that you’re doing the little things, every single day!
