As per Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of a 'perspective' is 'the capacity to view things in their true relations or relative importance'.?The operative word here is 'relative' as this is all related to our emotions more than the true relations.?It's important to understand that our perspective is a reflection of our inner world. We have built our world around our perceptions, and if we see things positively, that's the reality we will experience. On the other hand, if we choose to see things negatively, we will attract more negativity into our lives.
Life can be challenging, and it's easy to fall into negative thinking patterns.?It's all about our mindset, and the good news is that we can change it.
Cultivating a positive perspective takes time and effort. It's about training our minds to focus on the good and see the silver lining in every situation. This doesn't mean ignoring the negative, but rather acknowledging it and choosing to focus on the positive instead. For instance, if we experience a setback at work, we can choose to see it as an opportunity to learn and grow rather than a failure.
One way to cultivate a positive perspective is through gratitude. Gratitude is the practice of focusing on the good in our lives and being thankful for it. When we focus on what we have rather than what we lack, we attract more abundance into our lives. Practising gratitude can be as simple as taking a few minutes each day to reflect on the things we are grateful for.
Another way to cultivate a positive perspective is through mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being present at the moment and observing our thoughts without judgment. By being mindful, we can become more aware of our negative thought patterns and learn to shift our focus to the positive. Mindfulness can be practised through meditation, deep breathing, or simply taking a few moments to tune into our senses and observe our surroundings.
While having a positive perspective is essential, it's important to note that toxic positivity can be harmful. Toxic positivity is the idea that we should always be positive and happy, no matter what. This mindset can be invalidating and dismissive of our true emotions. It's important to acknowledge our negative feelings and permit ourselves to feel them. However, we can choose to see them as temporary and not let them define us.
