Vaccines and how they work.

With more than 150 coronavirus vaccines being in development across the world and hopes are high to bring one to market in record time to ease the global crisis. We need to understand how vaccines work and importantly share our knowledge with others. The World Health Organization is also coordinating global efforts to develop a vaccine, with an eye toward delivering two billion doses by the end of 2021.

So how do vaccines work?

A vaccine works by training the immune system to recognize and combat pathogens either viruses or bacteria. To do this, certain molecules from the pathogen must be introduced into the body to trigger an immune response.
