To Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate, that is not the question!

As a leader, it’s important to stay optimistic – with the right balance of realism – and calm during an emergency. COVID-19 has been a truly challenging time for everyone and certainly tested me as a leader. I have been in awe at the trust, collectiveness, and resilience of my teams to relentlessly find solutions to every situation. But what made me stay optimistic is the availability of vaccines.

With a new wave of COVID-19, Europe is facing new challenges and I strongly advocate for everyone to be fully vaccinated. We have seen the impact COVID-19 had on unvaccinated populations earlier this year and I urge everyone to trust science, trust data, and make the right decision to protect yourself, your family, and your community.

Our teams’ well-being and health have always been one of my top priorities, and I sincerely believe that vaccinations are the only way to keep life moving forward. I want to make sure that my teams are protected, that they can enjoy their freedoms and that they can spend time with their loved ones during the holiday season.?

At Genpact we have provided extensive information and support from credible sources to our teams about the safety and efficacy of vaccines. I’m grateful for our long-standing partnerships with our medical providers. For example, in Romania, Regina Maria’s doctors have joined our team calls multiple times to answer the questions and concerns our employees had.

The safety of individuals is a priority, but the economic impact of unvaccinated populations cannot be overlooked. As stated by Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization: “Vaccine inequity is the world’s biggest obstacle to ending this pandemic and recovering from COVID-19. Economically, epidemiologically and morally, it is in all countries' best interest to use the latest available data to make lifesaving vaccines available to?all.”

In Europe, we’re fortunate enough to have vaccinations widely available. Often you can even choose which one you’d like to receive! Countries with high vaccination rates are projected to make stronger than expected recoveries, and yet we’re risking lives and economic recovery because people are choosing not to get vaccinated. The new wave of COVID-19 is here and could force further restrictions and slow economic growth if people don’t get vaccinated.

Vaccinations are critical for our personal safety, community resilience, and business continuity. Having a fully vaccinated population allows us as individuals and as communities to look beyond the now and into the future again. For me, getting vaccinated or not is not a question! It’s Get Vaccinated! Until then, I will remain cautiously optimistic.??

How do we imprint this into everyone's psyche?

Bravo Shibu! ?? Why should we challange scientists'outcome, when there are far more other things to challange, really value added. People's opinions cannot be easily changed and in many case surprisingly and unfortunately response to other's shown flexibility is taken as opportunity to remain inflexibile in what you think..

Dear Shibu, Thank you for your post. I would tend to agree that vaccinations are critical for our protection against Covid. In the news this week however: in a Belgian ICU the majority of patients had had virus breakthroughs, ie they had been vaccinated and still became critically ill. Of course, it remains to be seen whether this ‘score’ is an outlier but still. It has already been proven that vaccinated people can carry massive loads of the Covid virus (especially the Delta-variant), and hence infect others (both non-vaccinated and vaccinated), albeit for a somewhat shorter time than non-vaccinated people. This is not to argue that we should stop vaccinating people nor an appeal to force people getting vaccinated. I think until now the focus is way too much on trying to contain a situation which clearly doesn’t let itself be contained. In other words: what is trying to get our attention here? What is bigger thing that is trying to emerge, that we cannot see yet? Who is this asking us to be? I’m starting a listening circle to start exploring the potential this situation has for us humans. There are no simple solutions in a highly complex world. You’re more than welcome to join if you like. Just let me know!
