At the end of a semester or sometimes an educational program, students will sometimes complete a capstone project which displays their knowledge on the subject they studied throughout a certain period of time. ?The spring season recently ended and at the end of my experience as Inventory Assistant/Specialist, I took advantage of an opportunity to attend a well-catered morning breakfast at a rooftop venue overlooking the city of Northern Virginia. ?Hosted by the company's President, I participated in a live streaming/recorded discussion on the trends in acquisitions... but as a guest, not as an engineer.
Vending tables with complimentary items and business clad researchers were neatly staged along the over-sized windows and wall seating. ?Excellent service, healthy, flavorful food and an assortment of beverages were available. ?It was a theater set up, with staging in the front and rows of white plastic seats, split by about 4 aisles. ?Touch screen monitors flanked the sides of the room. ?Speakers blended well near the stage and signage. ?The audiovisual team and their equipment rested in the back, under the stairs leading to the outdoor balcony.
All of the panelists projected and were well spoken. ?Audience members asked great questions and the planning team, while a little harried because of some very early arrivals seemed pleased with the positive outcome of the event. I learned some things from the panelists as well as some guests and researchers.
While not directly related, it was an excellent experience that facilitated full closure of my extended time in Washington, DC.
