V G Siddhartha- The Sad Demise of a Great Leader

I have been thinking a lot since I read about the story of V G Sidhartha - his demise has baffled me, pained me and angered me, all at the same time.
I have met many successful entrepreneurs, am an entrepreneur myself and I understand the ‘loneliness’ and the ‘pressures’ of this journey. I do agree that often times the glamorous side of our lives get talked about and hyped while our struggles, our toils and loneliness are ours only to bear and live with.
But here are my two bits about how I battle this and I thought it makes sense to share this now with all those aspiring entrepreneurs who may be too affected by this story of Sidhartha
- Invest in self care as much as you invest in your business, people and brands. Physical, mental and spiritual growth is as important as business growth. I don’t want to sound preachy but I have met many young entrepreneurs who don’t eat on time, sleep enough, spend time on relationships and it’s all an immeasurable toll on their lives.
- Build relationships of trust and love - entrepreneurship is lonely most times because we make it so. Sharing your worries, seeking help, admitting to failings to yourself and to the world actually liberates you.
- Stay human through the ups and downs- recognise your emotions, your contradictions and your emotional traps - work on them everyday. Entrepreneurship is beautiful, empowering and can give you heady highs but only if we manage our own emotions and build resilience... because alongside every high is a bunch of lows.
