This week we are reporting on Kazakhstan joining the ICAO Program, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh to resume direct flights, and more.

Kazakhstan is the first CIS nation to participate in the ICAO Program on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (source)

• Kazakh Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev and ICAO’s European and North Atlantic Office Regional Director Nicolas Rallo signed an agreement on Assistance, Capacity-building, and Training (ACT) for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) on 13 May 2024
• The agreement allows Kazakhstan to leverage the ACT to expand the production and use of SAF, demonstrating the nation's dedication to sustainable aviation development

FlyArystan connected Aktau and Baku (source)

• FlyArystan, a Kazakhstan low-cost airline started to operate direct passenger flights ex Aktau (Kazakhstan) to Baku (Azerbaijan) on 15 May 2024
• The flights are operated 3 times per week on Airbus A320 aircraft

Uzbekistan and Bangladesh to resume direct flights (source)

• 20 years later, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh are planning to resume direct passenger flights
• During the press conference at the Secretariat, Bangladesh Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain announced that the Cabinet approved the draft bilateral agreement on this issue

Air Astana resumed flights to Greece and Montenegro (source)

• Air Astana, a Kazakhstan national carrier resumed seasonal passenger flights ex Almaty (Kazakhstan) to Heraklion (Greece) and Podgorica (Montenegro)
• The flights are operated 3 times per week on both routes using Airbus A321Neo equipment

Kazakhstan and Egypt to increase flights (source)

• During the meeting between the Chairwoman of the Civil Aviation Committee, Saltanat Tompiyeva, and the Head of Air Transport Central Administration at the Ministry Of Civil Aviation of Egypt, Hesham Abdel Baset, officials discussed aviation cooperation by increasing the number of passenger flights from 14 to 48 per week
• Alongside Air Astana and SCAT, Kazakhstan designated FlyAystan to operate regular flights between Kazakhstan and Egypt

My Freighter to operate cargo flights to Mainland China

• My Freighter, a freight carrier based in Uzbekistan, has recently received approval to extend its international network to Mainland China.
• Although the carrier has not disclosed the commencement date for operations, it anticipates that the approvals will facilitate its ongoing expansion efforts
