Uzbekistan Air Cargo Notes | 03 October 2024

Welcome to this week's edition of Uzbekistan Air Cargo Notes, the first and only newsletter focusing on the latest news and insights into the dynamic air cargo market of Uzbekistan and Central Asia. This week we are reporting on Air Samarkand to operate flights to UAE, Kazakhstan to build three regional airports and more.

  • A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport and representatives from the Uzbek Embassy in South Korea has engaged in discussions with South Korean aviation officials in Seoul
  • During the official meeting, it was announced that Qanot Sharq, My Freighter, and Air Samarkand had been approved to operate flights to South Korea. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation, increase flight frequency, and expand destinations between Uzbekistan and South Korea

  • Air Samarkand started to operate direct passenger flights ex Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Al Ain, UAE
  • The flights are operated in partnership with the tour operator EasyBoking as part of the overall Rotana Jet project once a week using A321 aircraft

Air Astana to operate non-stop flights to London with modified A321LRs (source)

  • Air Astana has modified its Airbus A321LRs by adding extra fuel tanks, enabling non-stop flights between Almaty and London starting on 4 October 2024. The modification will cut approximately 90 minutes from the current flight, eliminating a stop in Aktau
  • The nonstop route, around nine and a half hours long, will be one of the longest flights operated by the A321neo, improving the airline’s operational efficiency and long-haul flight comfort

Kazakhstan to build three regional airports by 2025 (source)

  • Kazakhstan plans to build three new regional airports by 2025 to enhance tourism and connectivity. Airports will be located in Katon-Karagai, Zaisan, and Kendirli
  • The project includes constructing terminals and infrastructure to unlock the potential of key resort areas. This initiative is part of a broader state program aiming to stimulate economic growth in remote regions
