UX/UI Mobile and Web Design Best Practices

UX and UI mobile and web design are vital to consider when approaching your business's website. The UX (User Experience) best practices and UI (User Interface) design principles can vary depending on the type of app or website being developed, but there are some basics that pretty much apply to every type of software development project.

Here we go through these?UX ?/UI ?mobile and web design principles behind a successful User Interface (UI).

User Experience Design (UX) Best Practices

UX is all about putting the user first when it comes to designing your mobile or web app. This is important because if the users’ needs are not catered to, then those users will simply go to another app or website. So how do developers put the users’ needs first?

First, you must make the navigation intuitive, especially on mobile apps. Users must be able to immediately identify how to navigate through the site, which is achieved by using recognizable design themes and icons which appear as something that represents their function, such as a house for the home button.

The app design should also be seamless across multiple devices, with each mirroring the other. There will be differences, but the general design theme and color scheme should be uniform.

Mobile app developers also need to identify and focus on the?user goals , which may differ from a user accessing the website from a desktop computer. A user on a mobile phone will likely want a streamlined experience where just the most important items are immediately displayed, whereas a desktop user has more screen space, is likely sitting comfortably at a desk, and thus can navigate through more options and content.

User Interface Mobile and Web Design Principles

Personalization adds a lot to a user experience and should be a key part of any developer’s UI design principles. Personalization will steer users toward the content they want and away from the content that is irrelevant to them. It also means reducing distractions, streamlining certain components and syncing marketing messages to searches and clicks that the user has made on your site or app.

Another key UI design principle is to always make things easier for the user. An online retailer should make the purchase process as straightforward as possible, and other sites should make it easy to access the content different users want. Subscription pages with input fields can add the @ sign in the email field, for example, and even auto-fill the dot com part too.

It is also a good idea to have good?user onboarding practices ?that are relevant to the type of app you have designed and what the users expect from it. If it is a simple app, then basic instructions as to how to use its features is enough. More complex apps and websites should also provide more complex instructions for their features so users know how to get the most out of the experience.

Speed and feedback are two more UI design principles which developers should incorporate into the app design. Slow sites put users off, while feedback such as sounds upon a click in the UI or a small animation to signal an action has been successful is known to create a positive UX.
