UX24/7 Global UXR Newsletter
What's in this Month's issue
Welcome to June's?edition of the UX Crucible where we are trying a slightly different layout. Let me know what you prefer. And whatever the appearance, we do as always bring?you the best of international User Research,?Research Ops and Product related stories from around the world in the past 30-days.
Just over a week ago I was fortunate?to be able to interview Tomer Sharon, who is a bit?of an industry legend, and among other things, talked to me about continuous research and the link to research repositories. I learnt loads and hope you will too.
There are lots of great articles this month but the pick I think is the power of persuasion in presenting UCX research and design to stakeholders. Remote research features in two items this month, the first presenting the future of research in a remote-first world. And?for balance, the second article argues that the shift to remote is limiting the value of our work. I'll let you decide which narrative you prefer!
And speaking of narrative, I really enjoyed this article called "user research is storytelling" in which the stages of research are set out like the acts in a play. For those of you who prefer to listen and watch rather than read, I have included a video replay of a webinar on UCD, and a podcast about the future state of UX research and Design Ops.
And finally you can access the events calendar?here.
I hope you enjoy this months selection of articles and if you have written something you think would be interesting to our readers, do get in touch!

What is Continuous Research?
I selected this item from our blog as a companion to the interview with Tomer Sharon above. The article explains what continuous research is, why it's different and the advantages of using it.
Why should I use a User Experience Agency?
This article will tell you what a UX agency is and does, if they can help you with a problem you are facing and the value they bring to your organization.
10 more great posts from the past 30 days
1.?The Current & Future State of UX, Research + DesignOps with Jon Fukuda
This is a 58 minute podcast and well worth a listen. I really enjoyed the bit on triple forces of change and overall an interesting narrative about the founding of Lamina, design and research ops.
2.?User Research Is Storytelling
This interesting post compares running research with the way stories are told in a theatre setting - a three act structure. It is a different way of thinking about how to get the message from research across.

3.?The Hitchhikers guide to user research
On a similar theme to the item above, this post is written in a lovely narrative style and provides a systematic approach to UX research. It is easy to follow and has some valuable references baked in.
4.?AI vs. Human: A User Research Showdown
This is a download of an executive summary that explores whether there is a place for AI in generative research. It is just over a page and half long but contains some good initial data.
5.?Maximize engagement with user-centred design recording
This is a link to a replay of a webinar event 20th June which explained what User Centred Design is and how to use it in practice. It's 50 minutes longs but only the first 36 minutes are the intro and presentation. The rest is Q&A.
6.?Presenting UX Research And Design To Stakeholders: The Power Of Persuasion
This is a really interesting article that helps researchers use persuasion techniques developed by Hovland-Yale in the 1950's, to help communicate the findings of their research.?
7.?The Key to User Insights: A Comprehensive Guide to UX Research Methods
A fresh take on "everything you need to know about UX research". It is well written and covers a lot of ground. My only criticism is it calls UX research "revolutionary".
8.?How to Analyze Click Test Metrics in Stand-Alone Studies
This is a more technical post but it explains the analysis really well and includes a NASA website example with real data which helps to bring it to life.
9.?The Future of User Research in a Remote-First World
This is the first of two articles I have included on the subject of remote research. This one argues for the future in a remote-first world. The next offers the alternative position for editorial balance!
10.?Defaulting to remote-only user research is limiting the value of our work (8 benefits of field research)
This is the second article on remote research and argues that it is limiting the value of researchers work. The first article (above) offers a balanced view about the future in a remote-first world.
