DESIGN TO EMPOWER
User Experience (UX) designers have a huge responsibility in our constantly-changing world. As products change, adapt, and grow, new user groups and user needs emerge, and unexpected issues and problems appear. The skills-gap between company and end user expands, and in turn, the role of the UX designer broadens. UX’ers are no longer “just” end user advocates, but are recognized as strategic business partners.
WHY IS EMPOWERMENT IMPORTANT
Research shows that all humans thrive when feeling empowered. We prosper when feeling enabled, and in control of our own situation. As data about us grows, experiences are becoming more intuitive as they become more personalized. What are the trade-offs to this personalization, and are such trade-offs acceptable to users? When design becomes intrusive, does this cause mistrust, or can the user learn to "cope" and eventually feel comfortable with - and adapt to the change? What can designers do to build and maintain a level of trust, enablement, and control that is acceptable to our users?
Join fellow creative thinkers, innovators, and practitioners on March 7-8, 2017 at Copenhagen's next #uxconfcph!
