UX Trends for 2023

UX Trends for 2023

I can't believe it, but 2023 is officially here! If you are like me, then that means you are excited to see what areas of the design industry will continue to grow this year!

Although the new year is just off to a start, I have some predictions on what areas will be important for a new UXers to pay close attention to. Keep reading to see my top 4!

1. Rise of AI Artwork

The last month many of us have seen individuals create AI self-portraits using the Lensa app (as seen above). To me, this shows us just how wide spread the possibilities are and how accessible AI now is to everyone. I believe in 2023 AI artwork will be important for its speed at creating unique images.

2. Increased need to work cross devices

Now more than ever, it is important for Junior UX Designers to understand how to design for multiple device sizes and types. With more devices being designed for, more products are creating synced experiences across multiple devices. It is important to consider how these flows will work so that you can create seamless experiences for your users.

3. Growing desire for adaptable light modes

Rather than users having to decide if they want to use the app in light or dark mode, more and more products are doing this automatically. By doing this, it creates a better experience for your user regardless of their surroundings. Thinking through this lens means understanding even more so the places your user base will interact with your product. That means now more than ever, it is important to map out the user journeys to make sure you truly think of the max use cases.

4. Heightened accessibility laws

Designing for all users, regardless of disabilities, is continuing to be taken more seriously. Users now expect more from companies and are forcing more and more laws to be created. Make sure in the new year to think about how you use color, size, and animations in your products (as a starting point).

These four areas are only a few that I believe will continue to grow within the design space in 2023! Let me know in the comments, which other areas you are focusing your time on!
