UX Design: what is this area that attracts many "career changers"?
Long before we call it the modern term UX, the user experience was already taken into account by companies in different projects even without people having the idea of the term or market rules - and that goes for the offline world too. After all, what anyone wants when selling a product is for the customer to have a good experience, so that generates more business.
The UX is so old that several modern articles mention the similarities and connections between Feng Shui (created more than 3 thousand years ago in ancient China) and UX. After all, the two seek the same goal: to bring balance and harmony to the place/product applied. Balance, creating a positive user experience, and equilibrium are some of the points that these two "arts" connect.
The term UX:
But without travelling too much to the past and returning to the focus of UX Design as a term that we hear a lot nowadays, we can say that the official milestone of this denomination is the year 1995, at Apple, through Don Norman , a cognitive psychologist who worked at the giant of technology in the 90s as the first UX Experience Architect.
He explains what UX means at its root. "I was in Apple, and we said, 'The experience of using these computers is weak'. The experience, when you see it first thing in the store, when you buy it, when you can't fit it into the car because it is too big and when you open the box at home and you think it is scary, you don't know how to put these things together. All of this is user experience. It is everything that touches upon your experience with the product. That's what we meant when we devised the term and set up what we called User Experience Architect at Apple to try to enhance things".
"Today, this term has been hardly misused. People use it to say, 'I am a User Experience Designer. I design websites and apps'. They have no clue what they are doing and think the experience is that simple device. No! It is everything", said Norman.
Changing careers in Berlin through UX Design:
Today the term is widely known and has aspects in everything that encompasses the user experience, as pointed out by Don Norman. So you can imagine how many professional opportunities a junction of two letters can generate.
Whether in user research, the more practical part of creating interfaces, or designing, UX Design attracts anyone who wants to study, work or change careers in Berlin.
The Brazilian Business Women Berlin (BBWB) community chose the theme to be the focus of the following networking meeting, which will take place on August 23 at 6 pm.
Camilla C. will be one of the guests of BBWB. She has a degree in digital marketing and has built her career focused on product development through digital campaigns and brand management. She was already an expert in one of the many aspects of the user experience but decided to change her path a little and is now studying UX Design to pursue a more focused career in the area.

Camila left her job at a well-known startup in Berlin and has been studying UX Design for seven months in a Bootcamp, an intensive teaching method focused on the job market.
"I believe that UX Design is the perfect field where my passion for product development and brand management can come to fruition. Thus, deciding to pursue a UX Design Bootcamp was a conscious choice to refine my skills, transition into this high-demand field, and further my desire to create compelling, user-friendly digital experiences that not only satisfy user needs but also enhance brand value and product appeal", explained Camila.
In Berlin, the German government invests in professionals for this type of study. "Recognizing the financial implications of the Bootcamp, I explored options to alleviate the costs. I learned from the Arbeitsagentur website that they might support such endeavours, especially those looking to upscale my career change".
And Camila already has plans for after she finishes Bootcamp. "I'm eager to further specialize in UI Design, focused on interface development, a complementary field to UX design. Ultimately, I aspire to combine these skills and venture into digital product management, leveraging both disciplines to shape innovative digital solutions".
