Utopia Press - No Brexit, Shutdown, WeChat Rival

I'm a futurist active on LinkedIn and Medium and sharing articles in tech news, blockchain, business, stocks and on topics such as ethics in tech, UBI and decentralization. I direct my LinkedIn audience to trending fresh stories.

Currently I run a few publications on Medium and cultivated a following of over 22,000 through prolific writing (algorithms actually punish being too active or too creative):

TODAY'S HEADLINES

Brexit and U.S. Government Shutdown Leaving Democracy in Limbo

Democracy showing a vulnerability in 2019 and it's hard to imagine.

ByteDance Launches WeChat Competitor that Feels more like Snapchat

China's growth might be singing the blues, but it accounts for half of all app downloads and 40% of consumer spending. What's why when WeChat has a new competitor, it's sort of a big deal.

Chinese Facial Recognition Will Take over the World in 2019

Forget the trade wars or the government shutdown, will Chinese tech infiltrate the U.S.? That reality might be closer than you think.

The Future of Advertising is Decentralized

While the Ad-centric web continues to hack our attention and our data, is there a better way in which advertising could evolve? The behavior of young consumers seems to point to a resounding yes.

Do Men Really care about #MeToo?

The recent Gillette Ad on toxic masculinity has raised a lot of eyebrows. So what's the real deal? The pushback on the "virtual signalling" Ad is causing a lot of spirited debate. Still it's a harsh reality in the professional world. Women still earn around 30% less and have much less opportunities for promotions and positions of leadership than men.

The Retail Apocalypse is Back

Sears might have survived by the skin of its teeth to save 400 stores, but, but, ah. Remember that little thing called the retail apocalypse? American retail isn't as rosy as it looks. Signs are pointing to America falling behind in China in retail innovation in stores and via online to offline convenience.

China Will Boycott Foreign Brands

While market guidance adjusts to the trade wars it appears China got the shorter end of the stick, but what does it mean for American brands in the long-term? There's a crisis at Apple.

The Fraud of Crypto Community is Relevant

The crypto winter might also be a sign of widespread fraudulent practices in how blockchain startups built fake communities to raise funds and value for their altcoins. In an age of vanity and fake news, the very idea that genuine communities can be built over night seems a bit far fetched and suspect.
