Digital Marketing is now the new trend in Marketing world, local/international firms can easily utilize Digital Marketing channels to promote products/services locally and internationally, common used Digital Marketing channels are:

·        Social Media Ads (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube)

Local companies can promote what they sell by putting their webpages links at the top of search engine result pages, so anyone search for a keyword related to a product/service then user will see your webpage link at the top and eventually number of clicks will increase and more visits on your business website, and guess what, it is free-of-charge, you only need to optimize website structure, keywords and meta tags to be always on top of search results pages.

If local companies are targeting different countries, then we can optimize webpages with keywords that are searchable in those countries, on the other hand, local companies can COMPETE ONLINE, using Google AdWords (Search, Display and Videos) can promote local products/services to international users/partners who are looking/searching for those specific keywords, Google receives thousands of search inquires every single second, and of course users are searching for something that you sell/serve.

So, Digital Marketing is your business gate to compete/advertise online targeting any country at any time, this was impossible before, but now, impossible means nothing in front of Digital Marketing.

Another way to promote what you sell/serve is using social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram … etc. those channels are more into social networking when it came up, but with time those channels are becoming very crucial in building awareness of new brand/product/service locally/internationally. Social Media channels can be very effective tools to use for your promotional campaigns if and only if advertisers target the right audience at the right channel, for example, if you are selling new cosmetics under new brand in KSA, then you need to target customers in Arabic language, between 10:00 AM – 08:00 PM using Twitter but not Facebook (That’s because Twitter active daily users in KSA are much more than Facebook active daily users, also Twitter Hashtags are spreading very fast between twitter accounts).

In Jordan and Palestine, Facebook daily active users is more than Twitter daily active users and people love to share, comments and like those promoted posts, but again, a single ad on Facebook need to be targeting specific people depending on their demographics and interests so campaign can be effective.

One of the most effective online tools that businesses are not using in Palestine nor in Jordan (but heavily adopted in Saudi Arabia & UAE) is the Email Marketing, consider than you have list of emails from your company CRM system for those clients who bought perfumes during Ramadan, this means those segment has interest in perfumes and love to buy on specific time or occasion, so you can easily retarget those clients by email again to offer perfumes offer during new year eve for example, this will make more sense to them, in Digital Marketing, there are many ESP (Email Service Provider) which can hold thousands of emails and segment those emails are per user interest, then users will receive email offers personalized by mentioning their names so that offers can present in more personal matter and that make a huge difference compared with social media ads that are targeting audience in a public message.

In brief, digital marketing is happening everywhere now, and the question we need to ask for SME’s and big firms is not to use it or not, it is about “are you ready to deploy Digital Marketing”?
