The Slide Track Modernization project Phase 2 at the Utah Olympic Sports Park, is nearing completion. Ice is being made on the almost mile long Slide track where the Bobsled, Luge and Skeleton are ran. This project is a critical step in being prepared for the next winter Olympic bid coming quickly in 2030.
Some key components of this modernization effort included replacement of 25-year old manual ammonia valves with automatic control valves installed by Minus9 and installation of automated programmable logic controllers (PLCs) installed by Harris Company. All electrical was installed by Skyline Electric. This team was also used during Phase 1 where the middle section of track was modernized. Due to the success of Phase 1 resulting in some of the worlds fastest slide track times, Phase 2 was implemented. The team is excited to see how the fully automated track performs and how much faster the times will be.
ETC Group feels fortunate to be working with the Utah Olympic Park team and appreciates their hard work and professionalism.
