UT Experts at SXSW EDU: Online Graduate Education at Research Universities
Extended Campus at UT Austin
Upskill, Reskill, Get Ahead and Stay Ahead
Growing industries demand change and UT Austin is on the forefront, delivering high-quality post-secondary online education. UT educators will discuss the challenges and successes they’ve experienced with these programs on March 6, the first day of SXSW EDU.
Professors Art Markman, Adam Klivans, and Catherine "Kate" Calder, led by moderator Eric Busch, will describe launching at-scale online graduate programs at research-focused universities, and what they envision for online graduate education in the next 10 years.
“In-person post-secondary programs can't produce talent quickly enough to meet industry demands for expertise and this in turn has led to acute worker shortages particularly in growth sectors like data science and machine learning,” said Busch, UT’s director for online learning, noting the dearth of talent is “the most significant barrier to the adoption of emerging technologies among tech focused organizations.”
In addition to graduate programs, the Extended Campus at UT Austin provides in-demand skills through more than 200 career and professional education programs.
