Ultra-high-voltage electricity transmission 1150 kV has been used in USSR since 1988 till 1991 to transmit alternating current (AC) over long distance to unify in one large power system Sibirian hydro power plants, coal thermal power plants of Kazakhstan and Ural, and nuclear power plants at Central Part of Russian Federation.
The electrical transmission had been commisioned in 1988 with two segments: Ekibastuz - Kokchetav and Kokchetav - Kostanay, total lenth was about 432 km, each phase had 8 wires to prevent corona.
