The United States Postal Service (USPS) is set to enhance its operations with the opening of a new regional distribution center in Avondale, a suburb of Phoenix. This strategic move is part of USPS's nationwide "Delivering for America" initiative, a $40 billion plan to modernize and upgrade its mail network.
Location and Lease Details
The new facility, located at the 450,260-square-foot Fairway Commerce Center at 12250 W. Corporate Drive, will handle both outgoing and incoming mail operations for the Phoenix region. USPS has secured a 10-year lease with options to renew and the right of first refusal to purchase the property.
Operational Impact
Scheduled to commence operations in September, the state-of-the-art facility is expected to significantly boost USPS's processing capabilities in the region. This move is part of a broader strategy to establish approximately 60 similar centers nationwide, designed to accommodate advanced package sortation equipment and serve as central hubs for long-distance transportation.
Market Implications
This lease is one of the largest industrial deals in the Valley this year, highlighting the continued demand for industrial space despite a cooling national market. The investment aligns with the region's growth and the shifting logistics landscape.
