#BLACKLIVESMATTER & CROWDFUNDING A MOVEMENT the true power of crowdfunding is in the connections we make in the process.
My mother grew up in a different world than I did , she was raised In a Large Irish catholic family on the south side of Chicago
She came from a different world were segregation and fear were a part of growing up.
I remember seeing pictures and hearing stories from her brothers and sisters about how her favorite doll was a little African American doll that she took with her everywhere.
The older kids made fun of her and called it her "niggy" baby.
She was to young to know what hatred and fear were at the time and didn't understand the power that role models have,The toys our children play with impact them and the beliefs they have in this world,
Racism and fear are taught to us, just as Empowerment and Love can also be taught
I was lucky that my Family was able to see that the division is not between race but economic class.
I proudly support the black lives movement but do it on my own terms
I picked this loan because her desire to use technology to grow her small business is the right choice and i wanted to offer Karen not just money--but support and collaboration by using my skill sets to help her build her business.
I do SEO and while looking over her web presence to see what I could do ..
I found that her website had expired..

I purchased the URL and redirected it to her lending page while I try and get her a professional site built.

Business Description
Legacy Bebe is an online gift service for infants and toddlers. The idea behind Legacy Bebe grew out my desire to create a special place for gifts to infants and toddler’ of color. I have been to countless baby showers and purchased gifts for the children of family and friends, but found shopping for a unique baby gift challenging and time consuming. At Legacy Bebe we know that within a child’s first years, super soft and plush items are paramount. We have chosen chique, classic products from leaders in the soft children’s gift industry that focus on well-made, award winning, innovative designs. With Legacy Bebe, I particularly wanted to offer items that would promote a sense of pride, belonging, nurturing and creative play.
My vision for Legacy Bebe is to provide my target customer with an easy searchable website for the purchase of plush dolls, keepsakes and accessories presented in embroidered Legacy Bebe totes. Our products are great for baby showers, birthdays, holidays or just because.
I launched Legacy Bebe last year at the Fillmore Jazz Festival and over the ensuing months I have showcased my baby gift business at numerous pop-ups around San Francisco. With my completed website and social media presence I now feel ready to enter the ecommerce arena. My ultimate goal is to create a sustainable business that I can turn over to my daughter (my Legacy) in 5 years.
What is the purpose of this loan?
I am in the process of updating my product line with the inclusion of an additional wholesaler. Since I am moving to a strictly ecommerce business it is important to have inventory, packaging and shipping materials on hand to avoid long delays in order fulfillment.
