Brian Jordan Alvarez, director and lead actor in HULU’s new show, The English Teacher, leaned into a viral trend on TikTok this month. The result?
Fans are loving his new show, many of whom said in comments that they watched it due to his videos (his TikTok total likes grew by 6.3 million).
In past month, Brian created 20+ videos with the viral “I love your daughter” sound which he’s shared across his platforms. Here’s how his accounts have grown since October 2nd:
The numbers ??:
? His TikTok followers surged 17.3% (121,700) and his total likes skyrocketed by 21.3% (6.3 million), while sharing 118 videos.
? His Instagram followers increased 10% (40,634) and he shared 107 posts.
? His X / Twitter followers grew 8.8% (9,830) while tweeting 1,241 times.
? While he hasn’t posted much to his YouTube channel, and his subscribers haven’t grown, his video views increased 0.4% (360,773).

Big win ??:
Brian leveraged his role as both director and lead actor to amplify the show's release and capitalized on a trending sound that helped catapult the show into a top 10 streaming release. Brian has spent years on social and even used TikTok to develop some of the show's characters. By creating multi-platform awareness he was able to drive traffic which likely triggered algorithms and expanded the shows streaming reach.
Untapped opportunity ??:
Brian didn't follow the same content strategy on YouTube as he did on TikTok, IG, and X. This would've been a great opportunity to grow his YouTube channel, in tandem with the other social accounts.
