Using LinkedIn as a Recruitment Tool

Using LinkedIn as a Recruitment Tool

Not a day goes by where we, as recruiters, don’t use LinkedIn. It is indisputably an invaluable tool for anyone working in our profession.

One way of using the platform as a hiring manager or recruiter, of course, is to post a job advert to attract active candidates to your role. This can and does work, especially for more junior posts, or for positions which don’t require niche language, software or industry skills.

However, LinkedIn itself states that 70% of its users are ‘passive candidates’, so by only using job ads as a tool, you are certainly missing out on a large portion of talent. For the vast majority of our clients, irrespective of business size or industry, it is important not only to find someone who can do the job, but someone who they see as a true match for their company culture or values.

So naturally, it makes sense to open yourself to as wide a talent pool as possible, to ensure you are doing everything you can to find the right person.

This is why, as well as using adverts, we also adopt a proactive headhunt approach when searching for your next employee. This allows us to also attract the attention of those who are perhaps thinking about looking for something new, but haven’t got to the stage of applying, or even those who aren’t at all considering something different… until the right opportunity appears in their inbox.

Combining this headhunt approach with our strong network built up over 12+ years in the Swiss market, we are well placed to provide our clients with shortlists that offer a true view of the market and the varying candidates who are available. Feel free to get in touch for a discussion regarding a specific role, if you have more questions regarding our process, or for a more general overview of hiring in CH at the moment.

Contact me on [email protected] and I will be in touch.

I am here everyday. Here and number of others platforms (depending on the role and market). All tools are valuable but they primarily serve purpose of building a network and enhancing company/individual branding. What happens outside of those platforms is what matters most.

Linked In is a superb overall tool, but when I’ve been recruiting there’s nothing that beats the ‘human’ element on assessing candidates for roles or finding a superb candidate who for some reason just isn’t the greatest at selling themselves on a linked-in profile!
