One key benefit of using IRT techniques to identify 3PL supply-chain issues is that they can provide early warning signs of problems before they become serious enough to disrupt operations or damage customer relationships. The results showed that customers who experienced long delivery times were likely to respond faster than those who had not experienced any delays; highlighting how IRT methods could be used effectively for early issue detection within the 3PL sector (Li et al., 2017).

Similarly, Zhang et al proposed an adaptive fuzzy control system based on an implicit reaction time model which could detect abnormal situations during order processing within a 3PL warehouse (Zhang et al., 2018). The system was designed to analyse worker performance during order picking tasks and generate alerts whenever deviations from normal performance levels were detected; allowing organisations to take corrective action quickly if needed (Zhang et al., 2018). By doing so, it allowed companies to monitor worker productivity levels more closely and identify any potential bottlenecks within their operations before they became serious enough disrupt service levels or lead to costly delays (Zhang et al., 2018).
