Using Google's Bard to Navigate Through the Mental Health Treatment System

After several years of working on the "Treatment Scout" website to help people find mental health programs through reviews, etc, NAMI Montana decided that Google Reviews had hit a point of effectiveness where we no longer needed to have our out review platform.

Unfortunately, it was still a pain for our staff or the people we served to find the right part of Google Maps to run these searches. It was also really hard to separate them out. I'd been waiting for one of the new Large Language Models to crack the code on this painful process and it look like Google's Bard just did.

Here is my prompt and Google Bard's response:

Me:

Please create a list of the 10 best rated inpatient mental health treatment centers in California, based on their average rating on Google Maps. Only include treatment centers with more than 50 ratings.

Google Bard:

Sure, here is a list of the 10 best rated inpatient mental health treatment centers in California, based on their average rating on Google Maps, with more than 50 ratings:

Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and there are many other excellent inpatient mental health treatment centers in California. It is important to do your research and find a center that is a good fit for your individual needs.

Here are some additional factors to consider when choosing an inpatient mental health treatment center:

  • The center's accreditation: Make sure the center is accredited by a reputable organization, such as the Joint Commission or the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
  • The center's staff: The center should have a team of experienced and qualified professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and nurses.
  • The center's treatment philosophy: The center should have a clear and well-defined treatment philosophy that aligns with your values and goals.
  • The center's cost: Inpatient mental health treatment can be expensive, so it is important to factor in the cost when making your decision.

If you are struggling with a mental health issue, please know that you are not alone. There are many resources available to help you get the treatment you need. Please reach out to a mental health professional for more information.

This is a really value search for people trying to navigate the mental health treatment system or related areas, like law, where quality of services really vary based upon the practitioner.
