Using Facts to Help When We Invest
Steve Nash
Our goal is to grow the net worth of our clients by employing investment strategy that has worked well historically
My wife and I fill separate roles when it comes to family life. She is the source of of hope and optimism for our small nuclear family unit. I'm the worrier. Sometimes we reverse roles and I'm optimistic and she worries. But in most cases I worry.
When it comes to investments most of us (not all, but most) worry about investments because it is our money and we don't want to lose it.
Yet most of us who know that our money will not grow in capital appreciation unless we invest it, so we invest in the stock market. For me and on behalf of our clients that's where facts can help. We believe we must invest for ourselves and in our case as financial advisors invest on our client's behalf.
Therefore we study closely what has happened in the past. In the chart above you see the actual annual climb of the S&P 500 from 1930 to the present. Studying and understanding how and why the market grows is very helpful to us as both financial advisors and as investors for our own accounts.
These facts about the what, how and why of the stock market and its long investment history helps us deal with current investment worries that crop up because we are human and some of the time we are going to worry. We still worry but we have to take investment action and using facts is our strategy for doing so.
