Using Customer Feedback to Guide Product Innovation
Partnering with customers, talking to them regularly about their feedback, and iteratively developing products informed by that feedback is critical to innovation - and a fundamental tenet of how we operate at Bloomberg Industry Group.?
Take Bloomberg Government, for example. For more than a decade, government affairs professionals have trusted BGOV for accurate, timely, and comprehensive news and analysis, legislative and regulatory tracking, and directories. Informed by client feedback and driven by our investments in technology like generative AI, Bloomberg Government continues to evolve.??
When customers told us about their challenges tracking issues across all 50 states, we partnered with them to develop our AI-enabled state bill comparison, which allows users to easily search for similar text from state bills across all 50 statehouses. This tool allows them to quickly see trends in bills that are currently in progress, review details on past efforts on an issue, and identify key points to inform their strategy for influencing action and getting alignment from legislators. Most important, the product collapses hours of reading dense state legislation into a single click.
Our users also told us they needed a quicker way to get answers when they were looking for key details in federal legislation. Enter our new AI Assistant, which lets government affairs professionals ask questions of federal legislation, like “provide a summary,” “does this affect any existing legislation,” and “who are the co-sponsors.” With federal bills running hundreds, or even thousands of pages - and with complex dependencies like bill history or congressional testimony, AI Assistant is a game changer that simplifies our customers’ workflow.?
Staying Ahead of the Curve
To ensure we’re aligned with our customers’ needs, we use a variety of approaches to get their input and to better understand our platform’s impact on their work. Recently, we surveyed senior directors, policy experts, and managers who work in the government affairs sector and regularly use Bloomberg Government.
Government affairs professionals subscribe to Bloomberg Government to be in the know – and stay ahead of policy developments that impact their clients and their companies. The customers we surveyed most recently strongly agree that Bloomberg Government helps them save time and stay ahead of the curve.
Among the key findings:
In addition to surveys, feedback from many other channels plays a critical role in guiding our product roadmap. We’re interacting with our customers every day, gathering their feedback from our Client Support team, sales meetings, industry conferences, and our own events.
While we’re happy that our customers are getting value from Bloomberg Government today, it motivates us even more to think about what’s next – and to continue working in partnership with them - to keep Bloomberg Government evolving so that it remains the product of choice for government affairs professionals.
