If you have not heard yet (which I am sure you have) “content” is going to be the king of every marketing conversation in 2016. You will hear that countless times. The reason why it is so important is that information needs to be quick and readily accessible or consumers will completely bypass you. Your bounce rate is an indicator or whether your content is doing a good job. If your website’s bounce rate is not below 40% then it is time to go back to the drawing board.
If your website’s bounce rate is not below 40% then it is time to go back to the drawing board.
IF YOU ARE WONDERING WHAT TYPE OF CONTENT YOU NEED TO FOCUS ON, HERE ARE SOME TIPS:
-
Images:
The second someone accesses your site, they need something to draw them in. That can be achieved in a few different ways, but one of them mainly being a nice clear image. It can be store bought or a picture of your people at work. Either way, how something on there that is engaging and shows them that you are what they are looking for.
-
Load time:
How long does it take your site to load. If the answer is not 2-3 seconds, then your bounce rate will be high. There are tactics to reduce your load time, but hey… a magician never gives away his secrets.
-
Layout:
How busy is your website? Right now, most major companies (the ones setting the tone online) are going with a flat two color look and are using A LOT of white space. If your website is too busy or using old style, then consumers might be bouncing from your site because you are not relevant.
-
Accessibility:
What is your menu structure like? If the information people want is not easily accessible, then you will have a high bounce rate. Information needs to be easily obtained.
