Using Conproco Products to Restore Historical Structures

Conproco mortar is trusted by the construction industry for seamless repair and restoration of historical structures.

“I have been using Conproco products since 2004 to perform a wide range of repairs, including Sandstone, Limestone, Terra Cotta, and Granite,” says George Rucker IV, Vice President of E&H Restoration of Davenport, IA.?

One challenging project was the Circa 21 Playhouse of Rock Island, IL. This 100-year old building is listed on the National Historical Register and was experiencing water leaks and a deteriorated masonry fa?ade from years of weathering. “We performed tuckpointing, sealant replacement, brick replacement, and terra cotta restoration, using Conproco products to restore this building to good condition,” says Rucker.

E&H also used Conproco for masonry restoration of Iowa’s Elkader Bridge, another National Historical Register structure. This project required structural repairs to the bridge as well as tuckpointing, stone Dutchman, stone patching, mass grouting, and supplemental anchoring.

?“We take the continuing education of our field staff very seriously, and we were happy that Conproco’s staff was on site to train us when we worked on the Independence Mental Health Institute,” continues E&H’s George Rucker.?“We began the restoration of the IMHI complex by cleaning the walls. Once clean we tuckpointed 100% of the stone joints, using a historical lime mortar mix. As part of the building restoration, we had over 1,740 SF of historical limestone patching to complete. We used a custom-colored material specifically blended to match the stone on this particular building.”
