Using ChatGPT4 to Your Advantage

With AI becoming increasingly ubiquitous in the world of business, you’ll want to start making quick use of ChatGPT4. With the help of Elizabeth Lilly, we’ve summarized, edited and expanded on a list of user tips from Wired so you can learn more about it.?

What’s ChatGPT4 good for?

You’ve heard about it in the newspaper and read about it on TV! It’s the latest modern miracle – the greatest thing since the iRobot vacuum! It’s ChatGPT4 (CGPT)! So what’s it good for? And what do early stage companies need to be concerned about?

ChatGPT4, like every other kind of tool, doesn’t work for everything, and there are tricks to learning how to use it to get the most valuable response. Let’s take a look at an example from last week’s note on SXSW. CGPT reduced about seven pages to ten points — some of which are shown below.

China’s Web3 Strategy: China is pursuing Web3 very differently than the West, with a centrally directed and highly pragmatic approach. This approach seems much more productive than the approach being taken in the U.S., where blockchain only works in the context of cryptocurrencies.?

Supercomputing: Simply Frontier is now up and running at Oak Ridge National Labs (ORNL) in Tennessee, the world’s first exascale computer that can execute a quadrillion computations per second. The openness of ORNL’s top management to tackle any kind of problem with a publicly-owned resource was very encouraging.

Defense Technology: There is a shift in interest by investors toward companies that have defense-related or defense-applicable technologies. The Department of Defense’s interest has expanded far beyond weapons systems to include food security, biosecurity, and energy systems.

Getting the most out of ChatGPT4

So, how do you use ChatGPT4 to get the most value out of it?

You can ask for a response in specific forms. For example, you can have CGPT present data in a table; produced in a format that can be cut and pasted into Microsoft Excel.?

Add style to the writing. Don’t like CGPT’s dull, matter-of-fact tone? Ask for your question to be answered in the style of Ernest Hemingyway, Charles Dickens, or Steve Jobs.

Narrow the focus. CGPT works best when it is given restrictions. Ask it to limit responses to a certain number of words or paragraphs. You can also ask it to make highly technical subjects understandable in simpler terms – like quantum physics explained to a ten-year-old.

Copy and paste text from other sources. Don’t type. You can copy and paste up to 4,000 words. Words emailed to you, words from a book or words in another language, then ask CGPT to work from what you have fed it.?

Give CGPT background. Before you ask your question, try giving CGPT an example to work from – or some history on the topic. There is no magic combination of words. Just use natural language and see how far you get.?

In a few weeks, there will be all kinds of widgets and add-ons to make data entry easier and responses more on point. We’ve already seen one of your PowerPoint pitch decks summarized in a few paragraphs. Tools in the works include CGPT’s ability to retrieve real time information (sports scores, stock prices, etc.), pull up knowledge based information (company docs, personal notes, etc.), perform actions on behalf of the user (booking flights, ordering food, etc.).?

Going forward, building on CGPT will be incredibly easy. Plugin developers will expose one or more API endpoints, accompanied by a standardized manifest file and an OpenAI specification. These will define the plugin’s functionality, allowing CGPT to “consume” the right files and make calls to the developer-defined API’s.?

This is a big deal. If a user asks, “Where should I stay in Paris for a couple of nights?” the model can call a hotel reservation plugin API, receive the API response and generate a user-facing answer – combining the API data with natural CGPT language capabilities – completely end running Google, and your company’s listings.

If this doesn’t concern anyone relying on Google Search to find customers, it should. Perhaps including your company.?

Sign up for the plus version of ChatGPT4 (https://openai.com/product/GPT4). It costs $20.00/month but will give you preference when the OpenAI system gets overrun.?

We hope this is helpful.
