Using ChatGPT to Explain Anything to Anyone (or Fun with the Audience Persona Prompt)
One of my current favorite ways to use ChatGPT (you can substitute your preferred large language model) is the Audience Persona Prompt.?
The prompt looks like this:
Explain [Something] to me. Assume that I am [Unique Persona].
As an example, I’ve combined two of my favorite topics: new technology and greek mythology!
As with any prompt session, I played around with this to round off the rough edges (prompt smithing?), but my initial prompt was:
Explain large language models to me. Assume that I am Hermes, messenger of the gods.?
Here is the result.?
Hail, Hermes, swift-footed messenger of the gods! Allow me to elucidate the nature of large language models in a manner befitting your divine role.
Just as you, Hermes, possess remarkable speed and eloquence, large language models are akin to extraordinary messengers of knowledge and language in the modern realm.
These models are like magical scrolls infused with the essence of countless books, tales, and writings. They are crafted by mortal minds and powered by the prowess of technology, much like your own divine gifts.
Imagine a grand library, filled to the brim with scrolls and parchments that encapsulate the collective wisdom of humanity. Large language models delve into this vast repository of knowledge, learning from the tales and insights contained within, just as you gather knowledge from the gods and mortals alike.
Once imbued with this knowledge, these models can engage in conversations with mortals, like you, Hermes, relaying messages and answering inquiries.?And just as you traverse realms to deliver messages from the gods, these models traverse the vast expanse of information to gather the most suitable answers. They utilize their learned patterns and associations to convey information to those who seek it, bridging the gap between mortals and the wealth of knowledge contained within their digital realm.
And that’s it. Proof that we (with a little help from ChatGPT) should be able to explain just about anything to anyone. It also works if you just need an ego boost…in a manner befitting your divine role! ??
Happy prompting!
The ELI5 (Explain like I'm 5) prompt also works great for complicated topics! I think I finally understand how quantum computing works!
