Once you’ve focussed on what type of lead magnet you want to design, it’s time to bring it to life.
STEP 1: Getting Started!
Suppose, for this tutorial, the blog post we are going to use the lead magnet on is titled: 5 Ways to Reduce Your Belly Fat. The first step is to open the Canva Tool and go for a simple US Letter size. This will bring up a blank canvas for you to start designing.
STEP 2: Create the header
For a simple lead magnet, there's no need to create a full cover—just craft a clean header. Utilize Canva shape tool, choose the solid square, and adjust its size to fit the top portion of your magnet.
Next, incorporate your title. Make it pop by playing with typography—try mixing a script font with a sans-serif or stacking fonts to create a subtle shadow effect.

Step 3: Skip Background Patterns
Instead of a background, we often use a simple, thin-lined border as the background is not printer-friendly. In Canva, this can be done by selecting the outlined square shape. Adjust the corner handles to control the thickness of the line and use the side handles to size it to fit the entire page.
Step 4: Add Your Content
For content, we primarily use two tools in Canva:
Depending on the layout, you can go for a Q&A format or include elements like checkboxes for interactive worksheets.
Step 5: Include Copyright Information
Every lead magnet I create includes copyright information at the bottom. To prevent it from distracting from the content,? use the Canva transparency tool to slightly dim the text.
