Using Amazon Affiliate Links on Twitter - The Auto Way!

Using Amazon Affiliate Links on Twitter - The Auto Way!

I have had a lot of success with Twitter and it did cross my mind if I could use Amazon Affiliate Links on Twitter.

Amazon affiliate program a very popular affiliate program, so it’s good to know how it works.

You can use Amazon Affiliate Links with Twitter. It does help to shorten the link because Twitter only allows 280 characters in your Tweet. You just have to be honest with your audience that it’s an affiliate link.

Keep reading and I will share with you how to sign up for Amazon’s affiliate program, how you can shorten your link, how you can automatically send out tweets and get more followers.

Get a Twitter and Amazon Affiliate Account

The first step with using Amazon affiliate links with Twitter is to sign up for a Twitter account. Go over to Twitter.com and click the signup button.

You will need a phone or email address to sign up. Two easy ways to create a free email account is with Gmail and Yahoo.

When Twitter asks you for your name you could put a nickname you want to use on your Twitter account.

After entering your data, Twitter will send you a code to your phone or email. The final step is to enter a password.

I like to write my passwords in a document and it’s password protected.

You have a Twitter account, make sure you include a normal picture of yourself. If you just leave it as the default egg picture, not many people will take you seriously enough.

The next step for you to do is sign up for Amazon’s Affiliate program. Head over to Amazon.com and click on the menu under your name.

Then scroll to the bottom and right under make money with use, you will see become an affiliate and you want to click on that.

Next Amazon will ask you to enter your website. If you don’t have a website you could create a Youtube channel and just enter that it.

To start a Youtube channel go to Youtube.com. Then click on the user icon at the top right of the screen. Click on create a new channel. Next, choose a business or another name. Add the name of your channel and click create.

To get the link to your Youtube channel first go to your picture on the top right of Youtube and then click on your channel.

Next copy the URL and that is your channel.

Past that into the box of what Amazon Affiliate wants.

An important thing to know about Amazon Affiliate Program is they will close your account if you don’t make any referrals in the first 180 days.

It might be a better idea to build a following on Twitter before promoting Affiliate offers (I’m going to explain how to do this later in the post).

Next, you will fill out your store ID. This is what you want to call your affiliate business.

How to Build a Twitter Following

The way to build a Twitter following is to Tweet a lot. I Tweet once every 2 hours and I have more than 1 Twitter account.

Yes, I do have a life.

The easiest way to Tweet is to use a tool. The one I use has been amazing for me and Twitter gets me some great traffic.

Plus, what I like about Twitter is I can tweet my Youtube videos, blog posts, podcast episodes, or anything else I want.

The truth is it’s the easiest way to get targeted traffic that I know of.

I can listen to a podcast, watch the news, or be half-asleep and get traffic with a few mouse taps.

The bad news is that it does take some time to set it up. Once you get it set up then it’s easy to increase your following and get traffic.

Twitter is one of my best traffic sources.

If you want to know what tool I use as well as the price you can click on this link HERE.

If you don’t want to use a tool to use Twitter then you will have to manually do everything, which is very difficult.

The easiest way to build a Twitter following is to follow people in a certain niche. For example, if your in the dog walking niche then you would go to the search bar and type in dog walking.

Find accounts with lots of followers that are about dog walking and follow people that are interested in this topic.

Some of these people will follow you back and this how you can gain a steady following over time.

At the time of the writing 1 of my Twitter accounts has 5,357 followers in a certain niche.

I also have more than 1 Twitter account. This method does work.

After a certain amount of time, some people will not follow you back. I then use a free tool called unfollowspy.com and I know who is not following me back.

I then will simply unfollow those people.

What Should I Tweet About?

You should Tweet things that are valuable to your followers. It could be quotes, pictures, helpful tips, videos, or anything else that gives value.

Then once every 5th tweet you could promote an affiliate link.

The promotions could be a little different and crafting a promo can be a skill.

You do want to sell the link, but have it be interesting. One of the magic formulas in affiliate marketing is you can promote “a lot” if you do it in a fun, interesting way.

Since this is where ALL the money is made it’s a very valuable skill to learn.

I’ve seen blogs and Youtube channels get TONS of traffic, but struggle to make money because they don’t know how to promote.

My traffic is very low, but I still do ok because of this skill.

If you want to learn an interesting way to promote affiliate offers and this works with Twitter, Facebook Email or whatever you can check out this link HERE.

Using these ideas at least doubled my income with Affiliate Marketing.

One idea to promote an affiliate product is to use what is already working. Use a testimonial about the product and include that in the Tweet.

You just don’t want your promotions to feel too much like spam and boring.

What Affiliate Products should I Promote?

When it comes to choosing what to promote I recommend sticking to what you know. If you recently purchased something from Amazon you could talk about your experience and link to it.

What is cool about Amazon’s Affiliate program is that if someone clicks your affiliate link anything they buy from Amazon in 24 hours you get a commission from.

Say someone is interested in dog walking, but as they go to Amazon they pick up dog food and leash.

You would get a commission for all of this.

The catch is you get a commission for everything in 1 shopping cart. Once your customer buys from that 1 shopping cart then your affiliate cookie is void.

Even if they come back a few hours later to order more products, you don’t get credit the second time they order.

Another option is you can send someone straight to the add to cart button and this extends the cookie life. Now, the cookie goes to 90 days, but it’s only on that 1 product.

Actually, it’s not a cookie it’s an extension of the purchase period. This means even if they return from another computer you can still get credit.

Shortening the Link

The big challenge with Twitter is you only have 280 characters to put in your Tweet. Sometimes affiliate links look big and nasty.

A wonderful idea that I use is to use a link shortening service. I use Bitly, but there are others such as Geniouslink and Prettylinks.

The one sticking point with Amazon is you should read their terms. You can view their terms by clicking on this link HERE.

It says you have to identify yourself as an affiliate. This means in your Twitter Bio you should mention you’re an affiliate for Amazon.

Amazon also wants to know where the traffic is coming from. Bitly as well as Geniouslink all can share traffic info that Amazon wants.

You also should explain to people that the link is an affiliate link. In a nutshell, just be honest to your followers.

Other Ideas

Amazon’s affiliate marketplace isn’t the only option. There are many other places for you to find GREAT affiliate offers to promote. Here are a few other ideas.

  • Clickbank
  • Jvzoo
  • Shareasale
  • Warrior Special Offer
  • Commission Junction
  • Awin
  • Flexoffers
  • Rakuten Marketing
  • Avangate
  • Peerfly
  • Plus there are CPA networks like Maxbounty

I hope this post was helpful to you. Have a nice day.
