Using AI to Reduce Cost Per Hire - A Practical Example

Introduction

Here is an example of how one can use AI to help with the acquisition of talent. I gave ChatGPT a purpose statement from a real advert, for an Organization Development Specialist. Naturally, I won’t divulge the organization that placed the advert. I then put in the following evaluation parameters:

? Compare the following against the said vacancy,

? Indicate suitability, and

? Conclude with risks and a recommendation.

I obviously did not control for bias (for example gender etc.), but the result is quite astounding! If one can add control parameters to eliminate bias, the time saved through parsing can be significant and drive down cost per hire, a key HR metric. It does not take away human judgment but certainly make the load much lighter, and in an intelligent way!

ChatGPT Evaluation Response

“Overall, the CV appears to be suitable for the position described. The candidate has a strong educational background in human resources and organizational development, with a master's degree in Human Resources Management and honours in Human Resources Development. They also have relevant experience in leading organizational development and change management initiatives, as well as teaching and training in these areas. Additionally, the candidate has volunteer experience as a director and chair for two organizations promoting learning and networking for OD practitioners.

In terms of strong points, the candidate has a diverse range of experience in HCM, OD, OCM, and project management, as well as a strong educational background and relevant certifications. They also have experience in a variety of settings, including consulting, higher education, and internal moderation and assessment.

There are a few potential weak points to consider. One is that the candidate's experience in the learning, teaching, and research sector is somewhat scattered, with short stints at various institutions. It may be beneficial to highlight any specific achievements or accomplishments from these roles to demonstrate the impact of the candidate's work. Additionally, the CV does not provide much detail about the specific tasks and responsibilities associated with the candidate's roles. Including more information about the

scope of their work and any notable achievements or challenges faced could strengthen the CV”.
