Using affirmations and questions to design your life on purpose.

Using affirmations and questions to design your life on purpose.

A lot has been happening in my world over the past few months. Job changes, survival mode, moved interstate to be with my parents while my Dad transitions. These have been very conscious choices. No one has forced me to do anything I haven’t agreed to, which is important to me. I have consciously decided my life and created many parts on my terms. I am walking my talk, and talking as I walk the path I teach about.

These significant events are contributing factors for my quietness, hibernating really as I healed, relaxed, and contemplated again, what was showing up in my reality, how I was living life.

I needed to reassess who I was, Who I wanted to be, and how I wanted to respond and show up in the various experiences coming my way.

I needed to dig deep and address my fears, judgements, expectations and the rule book I have been living from.

Each challenge, each win, each opportunity that was presented I was determined to see it from the deeper perspectives of ‘WHY’

Why am I seeing the experience as I am?

Why am I responding or reacting the way I am?

Why am I feeling the way I am to this person, experience, or situation?

What Am I doing, and why am I doing it!!??

Why would I want to be doing, being, feeling, seeing or even choosing what is happening?

I realise some of these questions may seem a bit bizarre; after all, life happens to us, as much as from us, and that is the point! We may not be fully responsible for choosing a scenario, but we indeed are responsible for interpreting and giving meaning to things and our response/reaction to them.

We are responsible for what we experience.

Don’t like the experience, change our perception, beliefs or expectations of how it should be, and then, if these still don’t create more internal harmony, move on, let it be and let others be who they are. Don’t engage, don’t force them to be different, or use this against them. Let us all be ourselves, how we choose to show up and interact with the world, and if you thoroughly disagree with their choices, then decide how much and how we interact, if at all.

Step away from pain, frustrations, confusion, hurt, etc., by adjusting your internal world to create a different way of interacting with the outside world. This is within your realm of influence and power if you choose it.

Yes, it will take time. You may need to develop an exit plan and help to think about alternative viewpoints to explore your options. Unless you are in physical, mental, or emotional danger, give yourself the gift of time to explore, to play with possible changes, and to see how they fit.

  • Explore what is important to you, your values, ideas, and rules you choose to live from.
  • Decide and declare what you choose to be, do, have, and above all be-come.
  • Describe in detail what the future (now) you are doing, feeling, seeing, tasting, hearing, wearing and interacting.
  • Feel into these events you see in your mind’s eye, or the experiences you feel as you start to dream again of what your life could be, if you permit yourself.

What I have been using lately in my daily routine to kickstart and deepen the process

I searched online for affirmation lists. Affirmations are defined, positive statements about what will happen in the future. The advantage has been that these prompts have started me to think about their suggestions—how to have experiences that inspire me when reading them.

As I write them out, I feel the feeling of the description. I see an image expressing the statement, and I am certainly creating movie scenes showing how the affirmations could play out.

Yes, these are creations in my mind, but reality is lived at least twice, for all feelings and actions we have are first created in our mind/body, lived, and then reassessed while living the experience.

Another advantage of working with affirmations suggested by others is that each is an opportunity to explore the blocks and concerns that stop the affirmation from becoming real and also to consider if the suggestion is something you want to have in your life.

One set of affirmations I have been playing with is around romance

Another set explores creating positive shifts around the charkas

So, if you are unsure what you would like to create in your life, explore ideas and work shared by others and, above all, explore your hidden dreams, desires, and wishes. You are bound to be pleasantly surprised by what else could be possible in your world.
