Interestingly, the Value part is where most get it wrong…

Most brands send emails that just shout: "SALE! SALE!" one email after the other.

Don’t get me wrong…

It’s fine to occasionally send a promo email…

But the burning question when writing most emails should be "what value can I add to my customers with this email?"

2. Visual

Most eComm emails nowadays feature some form of graphic design…

This generally converts better than text-only emails, at least for DTC brands…

Graphic design also lets you keep your brand's identity consistent across all marketing channels…

Just make sure that the graphic design gives each and every one of your emails the look & feel of your brand.

It’s also important to ensure that the design supports the copywriting—it should be clear what an email is all about INSTANTLY, and what you want your reader to do.

3. Verbal

This is mostly about the quality of the copywriting: the message, choice of words, approach, and expressing the brand’s voice.

Ultimately, you want to make the copy so compelling that the reader performs the action that we want them to—whether it is to complete their purchase, click to the site, read an article, or leave a review.
