Usefulness of a 70cm bore scanner
This is one of many example where a 70cm bore is needed. The example shown below are done with a 70cm bore Siemens 3T Skyra. Patient weight over 100kg and has a big stomach. With a 60cm bore scanner this patient will stand no chance to fit inside there for a liver exam where all the required coils. The newer generation 3T scanners, have amazing technologies to cope with inhomogeneity due to its bore size and patients size. I’m just amazed how good fat suppression there is on this image due to the patient size.
Multiview of a t2w SPACE fat suppression respiratory triggered done in the waiting period of hepatocyte phase after Primovist/Eovist was given. Proper positioning the patient, coils and highly optimized sequences are needed.
