Dissolving vs Deleting P6 Activities
Many a times what happens is the scope of work changes which leads to adjustments in Schedule and generally everyone deletes the activity which hampers the logic of schedule .After all, you might be deleting the only successor to another activity in the schedule, or deleting the only predecessor to another activity. To avoid this problem, Dissolve function should be used.
So what happens when you use dissolve the activity is the predecessor of the deleted activity is linked to successor of the deleted activity So in this way the schedule logic is preserved.
Flag and Milestone activity in Primavera?
With the use of flags the logic of main event can be easily tracked as these cannot be created without predecessor as standalone allocating the constraint. Whereas mile stone can.
Flags cannot update manually as Primavera automatically update the status whereas milestone can be update manually.
