Using Our Stage for Social Good

Friends,

Today, I want to talk about something that's close to me, giving back. As musicians, we have been blessed with stages around the world—an opportunity to touch lives, evoke emotions, and inspire change. But it's not just musicians who hold this power; each of us has a platform, big or small, to make a positive impact in our communities, friends, and families.

Using our platform for social good goes beyond the lyrics we write—it's about leveraging our influence to promote charitable causes, raise awareness, and inspire others to join us in making a difference. Together, we can create a ripple effect that transforms lives and shapes a better world.

Charity has always been one of the cornerstones of Anberlin's journey. We've witnessed firsthand how music has the power to bring people together for a common cause. From benefit concerts to partnering with charitable organizations, we have strived to be more than just a band, we believe in giving back as a way to express gratitude for the support we receive and to extend a helping hand to those in need.

But it's not just about the actions of musicians or celebrities—it's about every individual recognizing their potential to create change. We all have unique talents, passions, and circles of influence that can be used to support causes that resonate with us. Whether it's volunteering at a local shelter, fundraising for a non-profit organization, or using social media to raise awareness, each act of kindness matters.

Why is it important to use our platform for social good? Well, it's about being a force for good in a world that often feels divided and disconnected, especially in 2023. It's about using our voice to advocate for those who may not have one, to shine a light on injustices, and to amplify the voices of marginalized communities. When we come together, we become agents of change, fostering compassion, empathy, and unity.

Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV)

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Giving back isn't just a one-time event; it's a mindset, a way of life. It's about recognizing that we have the power to make a difference, no matter how big or small our actions may seem. It's about inspiring others to join the movement, creating a collective impact that surpasses what any individual can achieve alone.

So, I encourage you, friends, to find a cause that resonates with you. Look for opportunities to support charitable organizations, volunteer your time and skills, and spread awareness through your platforms. Let's use our voices, our talents, and our platforms to uplift others and create a world that is more compassionate, and just.
