Use Your Powers For Good
WHY am I posting about using my powers for good?
"Use your powers for good instead of evil." Nnedi Okorafor
It's a quote we've all heard but a catch-phrase I've used for a long time that's guided me throughout my career. Moving from marketing director to nonprofit Executive Director and then helping volunteering to help nonprofits through the years, I realize I could pick money over trying to do what's meaningful, purposeful and for the greater good but that's not as important to me. In my current role as a college professor, I feel like I can give back using my expertise by guiding others who are finding their way. I think that's what I like about coaching and coaching around the area of branding specifically is that I can help others achieve their goals with my years of experience, knowledge, and insight around my passion of branding. I believe that's why I stopped in my creative consulting is that I didn't believe my powers were being used for good. Again, we all need money, I had other things on my mind.
THE AHA MOMENT THAT'S LEADING ME FORWARD:
What I realized is I can jump in there and focus on those companies that want to make a difference, create an impact, build a community, and build positive brand experiences. That's pretty easy. Sometimes we overcomplicate things. Keep it simple and do more of what makes you happy.
Take time to give yourself that reality check. We have to remind ourselves of what is important for us and sometimes we need those that are close to us to remind us or keep us accountable to what is important by lighting that fire for us.
Helping creators gain clarity & confidence through biblical meditation and journaling, so they can discover and share their life experience with impact.
2 年This is really great Professor. I think we all should be reflective in how we use our abilities and serve the world & even how that aligns to the greater good by knowing who we are working with. Looking forward to hearing more from you!
Helping others create opportunities for connection, community and celebration.
2 年Well said Ken. I know the students are benefitting from you.
