Now back to Using Your Interviews To Your Advantage!
Now, how do you do that?
How can I use my interviews to my advantage?
Ok, let me cut straight to the s***!
Most tech interviews have 3 stages, well really 4 stages if you do what I'm going to tell you to do.
INITIAL STAGE
You have the initial stage where you have received the invite to interview with a recruiter, HR, or whomever within that first step right?
Now, literally, all you have to do is research the company you want to work for. Learn about the tools and services they use. If you are getting a call back you should already have some skills matching those.
But understand how they are using them to solve problems. That way you can talk about this with excitement to move into the second round.
FIRST ROUND
Now in the first round, you will receive more information about the company and culture. You might be able to pick up on how they operate and maybe some new tools they use that weren't mentioned in the JD.
This is a perfect opportunity to go back to the board and be creative with new projects for the second round. If they love you so much that the second round is the next day, then get your ass in gear.
Work to build a creative scenario that you can talk about the next day. You can literally say I did this last night because you wanted to see how you can help solve problems with this tool.
SECOND ROUND
By this round, you will be in the deep in of talking about the pros and cons of the tech stack that you know. This is an opportunity to speak on the new things you've discovered while tinkering around with some of the services they used that you found out about. Directors, Tech Leads, Managers, etc love to see that you have the Tenacity to learn new things.
You can still learn more about how they really do things in this interview. Take those thoughts with you, jot them down, and get to work figuring out how to solve problems.
If you don't land the Final Round, it's ok. You will be more prepared to take the next round of Interviews that come from another company.
If you do land the Final Round, then get ready to show your personality and shine because this can be yours!
Anyway, check out the gems I dropped in our latest video!
I know it will help you or someone else that is going through this journey!

4 年It’s a great video about how to do well in a interview. Taking notes is underrated, because we forget what was said. Another thing to add is following up after the interview. Send a email to thank the people who interviewed you and add a takeaway you learned about. By sending a thank you email within two hours after the interview, shows your excitement for the job. Thank you for the post about interviews and projects, Broadus!
