Use your imagination to make it happen!

Use your imagination to make it happen!

Just sit for a moment and think of something that you've always wanted to be able to do but never have for one reason or another. For example, perhaps you've wanted?to do physical things requiring a degree of coordination and motivation such as skiing, riding?a horse, conquering a mountain, or driving?a car??Are there things you're fearful of such as walking along the?edge of a sheer cliff, spending a day in the jungle, stroking a stranger's dog, or jumping out of a plane? Or maybe you would like to improve your self-confidence in social situations, such as giving a speech, finding a new partner, improving your fitness, or eating more healthier??

Now just sit for a moment and?imagine yourself doing this exact same?thing?you've always wanted to be able to do. See and feel yourself now doing this with ease as if you've always been able to do it. You've achieved your outcome and your brain has been conditioned to now believe?this task, event, skill,?or quality is now within you, it's possible and achievable, and do you know what...you've already done it!?

Once this has been achieved at least once in your imagination, the brain believes it to be possible and the muscle memory and neural networks are formed to make it happen.

A research study was conducted to demonstrate this using two basketball teams. One team did not practice on the court prior to the competition and instead sat each day in the classroom imagining getting the ball through?the net every attempt, without fail. The other team had to practice on the?court without any mental rehearsal or preparation. The latter team made many attempts and some were successful and some weren't i.e., their game wasn't consistent and so their 'failures' would affect their game, emotions, and morale. The team who had no physical practice, but who got the ball in through the net consistently every shot, won the actual competition when they met face to face on the court.

Try it for yourself...what new challenge will you set yourself today and mentally?rehearse to build your confidence with it before setting foot anywhere near the real thing?
