Deming 14 points are well known, but not widely practiced.

Point no 4 says, work with one supplier... do not use multiple vendors for the same part. This has wide implications. Not well understood by many process managers.

The point is  driven home clearly in this simple Dart Chart, which indicates how mixing parts from 8 cavity mould worsens quality by a factor of 6.

The 8 green dots at bottom represent 8  cavities, and one green dot on top represents  quality of the mix. The standard deviation for the parameter in question worsens from about 0.15 for individual cavity to about 1.05 for the mix.

So do not, ever, mix inputs from 2 sources before use, any time in your operation
