Use of simulators in marine industry
Simulators have been leading the way in marine innovation, with the aim to reduce costs and delivering better training. The use of modeling and simulation technology is helping to revolutionize the marine industry. Seafarers, pilots, and other major participants in the industry now have access to cutting-edge simulation software and hardware, as well as significant cost reductions. Another example of technology adoption comes from the aviation industry, where pilot simulators were first utilized for training. Even if you have Microsoft Flight Simulator on your computer, finding a state-of-the-art cost effective marine simulator for laptop or personal training is challenging. However, technology continues to push the limits of what it is possible to simulate in real life. Incident investigators have also used simulations to provide valuable information into how to avoid such incidents in the future. The technology's ability to deliver even higher realism, training, and skill transfer into real machines will improve as they get more polished, detailed, and advanced.

2 年There was a PC based Sim called ‘Ship Sim 2008’ which I had and was a good halfway between a game and a professional sim. Sadly I don’t think it is supported anymore otherwise could make a good low cost trainer as well as getting future cadets interested in a career.

2 年Currently all the simulators that are available are behind high costs and from specific training centers, we should de centralize the crew training and make it a fun to increase participation.
